ICBC recently won “Green and Sustainable Bank of the Year in China” in “The China Awards Programme 2023” of The Asian Banker. The award is granted to banks with outstanding performance in addressing climate challenges, promoting green transformation and realizing sustainable development.

In recent years, ICBC has integrated green finance into its development strategy, corporate governance, policies and regulations, product system, business procedures and risk management and formed a sound green finance system. ICBC has been leading the peers in terms of core indicators of green finance such as green loan and green bond issuance and underwriting. ICBC has successfully issued “carbon neutrality” themed overseas green bonds in multiple currencies, with a total amount equivalent to USD2.2 billion. The funds raised from the issuance are used in green projects in areas with significant carbon emission reduction effect such as green transportation and renewable energy.
