On March 22, 2023, ICBC attended the Reporting and data on nature-related financial information workshop of the Second G20 Sustainable Finance Working Group (SFWG) Meeting via video.
ICBC attaches great importance to the development of green finance and has made many beneficial innovations. The Bank recently carried out the “ecosystem protection redline map program”. Based on the Chinese government’s institutional innovation of drawing redlines to protect ecosystems, the program embeds ecosystem protection redline database information into the credit business system, adds the ecosystem protection redline judgment function for site selection of projects granted with loans, and includes it into the full-process management of credit business. The program has provided a creative solution for financial institutions to manage ecological and environmental risks and implement biodiversity finance.
Next, the Bank will continue to be the foregoer and practicer of the green development philosophy, actively take actions, integrate the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals into its own development planning, and contribute financial strength to the global sustainable development cause.
The Reporting and data on nature-related financial information workshop was co-organized by India as G20’s President and Co-Chairs (the People’s Bank of China and the U.S. Department of the Treasury) of the G20 SFWG and aims to explore solutions and paths for financial support to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
