The China Banking Association recently released the results of the GYROSCOPE Evaluation System on the steady development capability of commercial banks for the year 2022. ICBC remained the first place for the second consecutive year among national commercial banks in the overall evaluation, becoming the first championship-defending commercial bank since the launch of the GYROSCOPE Evaluation System.
The results of the GYROSCOPE Evaluation System include “1+9” rankings, which are 1 main ranking based on overall evaluation and 9 sub-rankings on nine separate dimensions, namely, governance, yield sustainability, risk control, operation management, service quality, competitiveness, organizational intellectualization, personnel competence, and equity funding. In addition to the overall ranking among national commercial banks, ICBC also topped four other sub-rankings for the year 2022 on governance, operational management, equity funding and service quality. In the first three sub-rankings, ICBC remained the first place for two consecutive years. And in the sub-ranking on service quality, ICBC rose to the first place from the third last year, achieving a new breakthrough.
The banks participating in the GYROSCOPE Evaluation System include large state-owned commercial banks, national joint-stock commercial banks, city commercial banks and rural commercial banks. The number of banks with effective participation reached 171 in 2021, indicating that the GYROSCOPE Evaluation System has continuously gained more attention and more influence in the industry.
