Recently, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) won from the International Financial Forum (IFF) the “2022 Global Green Finance Innovation Award”, another honor following the “2021 Global Green Finance Annual Award” given to the Bank last year.
ICBC continues to promote green finance, innovate green financial services, and enrich the supply of green financial products. The Bank comprehensively uses multiple financial instruments including loans, bonds, stocks, agencies, leases and consultants, providing all-product and full-chain support for green development. ICBC has won the “Innovation Award” for ICBC Shanghai Branch’s green shipping loan program involving the “Poseidon Principles”, the first of its kind among Chinese banks. The Poseidon Principles are a sector-specific standard set by mainstream international financial institutions based on the greenhouse gas reduction targets adopted by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in 2018. The standard represents banks’ commitment to sustainability loans and act as the first guideline introduced by global financial institutions in participating in greenhouse gas reduction.
Next, ICBC will actively study the new areas, forms and models of green low-carbon industries, develop financial services that are more targeted and suitable, and provide green customers and projects with full-chain comprehensive financial services, so as to contribute financial strength to the green transformation of the real economy.
