【Sustainable Finance】ICBC Wins “Best Bank for Sustainable Finance, China” of The Asset for the Third Consecutive Year

In recent days, the Hong Kong magazine The Asset released the results of “The Asset Triple A Country Awards for Sustainable Finance 2025”. ICBC won “Best Bank for Sustainable Finance, China” for the third consecutive year.

In 2024, ICBC’s green loans exceeded RMB6 trillion. The Bank has issued RMB110 billion domestic green bonds cumulatively, providing strong financial support for promoting the green and low-carbon transformation of China’s economic and social development. While advancing green finance initiatives from a strategic perspective, the Bank has been continuously deepening the construction of its green finance system. The construction of the green finance mechanism has been continuously strengthened. The Bank issued a high-quality development plan for green finance, established dedicated green finance institutions, and held multiple green finance training sessions with special themes. The Bank took multiple measures to coordinate and promote green finance. The Bank further enhanced its capability of innovative services for green finance, strengthened research on key green industry chains such as new energy vehicles, photovoltaic power generation, and water conservation. The Bank pushed forward the pilot comprehensive service plans for green industrial parks and released an ESG advisory service system, blazing a new path for comprehensive green finance services. The Bank further enhanced ESG risk control, improved the green classification management framework for investment and financing, and introduced differentiated control measures. It made full use of big data information, strengthened the proactive identification, real-time early warning, and timely handling of ESG risks, and continuously enriched the means and expanded the scope of risk control.

This is the most heavyweight award in the fields of green finance and sustainable finance granted by The Asset to domestic banks. It mainly focused on financial institutions that made pioneering contributions to sustainable finance in 2024.
