The U.S. dollar changed hands in the upper 108 yen range in early deals in Tokyo Thursday, after hitting a five-month low in New York overnight after U.S. President Donald Trump warned against the strength of the dollar.

As markets opened here, the dollar was quoted at 108.90-91 yen compared with 109.05-15 yen in New York and 109.66-68 yen at 5 p.m. on Wednesday in Tokyo.

The euro, meanwhile, fetched 1.0670-0670 dollars and 116.19-20 yen against 1.0660-0670 dollars and 116.17-27 yen in New York and 1.0619-0621 dollars and 116.45-49 yen in late Wednesday afternoon trade in Tokyo.
