Chinese stocks opened lower on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.04 percent, at 3,285.46 points.

The smaller Shenzhen Component index opened 0.05 percent lower at 10,663.86 points. The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, was down 0.3 percent to open at 1,940.3 points.
